Starting Jan. 1, 2019, UnitedHealthcare (UHC) will use Quest Diagnostics, in addition to LabCorp, as in-network laboratories for all UHC members (excluding existing lab capitation agreements).
LabCorp will continue as UHC’s exclusive lab provider until then.
Payment Policies Revisions
UHC will revise the following policies for commercial plans, effective Dec. 1 (see UHC’s September Network Bulletin, p. 22, for details):
- Injection and Infusion Services,
- Laboratory Services, and
- Supply.
In addition, UHC has updated its Interoperative Neuromonitoring Policy (for commercial plans, Medicare Advantage, and Community Plan Medicare) as of Sept. 1. The revision includes place of service (POS) 24 (in addition to POS 19, 21, or 22) as acceptable for CPT codes 95940 and 95941. POS 24 represents an ambulatory surgical center.
The Texas Medical Association’s payment specialists continuously review health care payment plans’ newsletters and updates for items important to Texas physicians. Texas Medicine Today periodically publishes key excerpts from those newsletters that you might have missed.
