Welcome New Board Members

 2019 New Board Member Collage

TMA Foundation is pleased to welcome the following new members and representatives to the Board of Trustees.

Clifford K. Moy, MD, Houston, a psychiatrist in practice for 30 years, was appointed to serve his first three-year term on the TMAF board. Dr. Moy is a former speaker of the TMA House of Delegates, TMA’s policymaking body. He currently serves on the board of directors for TEXPAC, TMA’s political action committee. Dr. Moy is the behavioral health medical director at TMF Health Quality Institute, based in Austin. Dr. Moy is a member of the Harris County Medical Society.

 Kim M. Rice, MD, a Dallas nephrologist in practice for 21 years, was appointed to serve her first three-year term on the TMAF board. Dr. Rice served as a member of the TMA House of Delegates, TMA’s policymaking body, from 2012 to 2014 and is affiliated with Dallas Nephrology Associates. Dr. Rice is a member of the Dallas County Medical Society and a past member of its board of directors.

 Craig Norman, RPh., San Antonio, a pharmacist and senior vice president for H-E-B, is a member of several professional pharmacy organizations; and serves on the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Dean’s Advisory Council, The University of Texas College of Pharmacy Advisory Council, and the American Cancer Society’s South Texas Area Board. He is rejoining the TMAF board after having been a member in 2008-11. Mr. Norman received a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy in 1983 from UMKC and has attended many executive development programs over the years including the Executive Leadership Program at Seattle University’s Albers Graduate School of Business in 2005.

 Sunshine H. Moore, Corpus Christi, the immediate past president of the TMA Alliance (TMAA) advocacy and service organization, was appointed to serve her first three-year term on the TMAF board. She has also represented TMAA on TMA’s Council on Health Promotion and Council on Science and Public Health, and participated in TEXPAC, TMA’s political action committee. She is married to Jacob J. Moore, MD, a Corpus Christi ophthalmologist and TMA member. Ms. Moore is a member and past president of the Nueces County Medical Society Alliance.

 Amy Whited, an Austin pharmaceutical company executive, has been an active member of the TMAA and is treasurer-elect of the Travis County Medical Alliance. Mrs. Whited is the state government relations and public affairs director for UCB, Inc. a global biopharmaceutical manufacturer that specializes in therapies for neurological and immunological diseases. Throughout her career, she has focused on health care advocacy and politics. She served as director of health policy for the North Carolina Medical Society, where she lobbied on behalf of physicians and their patients. She also founded Pink Granite, an online community that supports the advancement of women working in Texas politics and policy. Mrs. Whited graduated from Jacksonville State University with a bachelor of arts degree in political science, and later earned a master’s degree in public administration in nonprofit management and leadership from Auburn University Montgomery.

Diana L. Fite, MD, the new president-elect of TMA, joins the TMAF board as part of the duties of the president-elect. For 40 years, Dr. Fite has been an active member of TMA and the Harris County Medical Society (HCMS). She has served on 17 different boards, councils, or committees. She most recently chaired the TMA Board of Trustees, the association’s governing body. She also served as its secretary, and as liaison to the International Medical Graduate section, chair of the Educational Scholarship and Loan Committee, and member of the TMA Task Force on Balance Billing. Dr. Fite also has represented HCMS as a delegate at every meeting of TMA’s House of Delegates policymaking body since 1986, including through the arrival of seven of her eight children. In addition, she has represented doctors from her home state in the Texas Delegation to the American Medical Association since 2003. Dr. Fite also has served as president of HCMS, the Houston Society of Emergency Medicine, Texas College of Emergency Physicians, and the American Association of Women Emergency Physicians. Having chaired multiple hospital committees and served on medical executive committees at three different hospitals, Dr. Fite is board certified in emergency medicine. She has practiced in Houston for 39 years.

Justin Bishop, MD, a medical resident in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine in Dallas, was appointed to serve a one-year term on the TMAF board. Dr. Bishop, a 2014 TMA Medical Student Section Student of the Year award winner, previously served on the TMA Board of Trustees as a representative of the TMA Medical Student Section and the TMA Resident and Fellow Section. He also serves on the TMA Board of Councilors, the association’s ethical policymaking body. Dr. Bishop is a member of the Dallas County Medical Society.

Madeline Hanes, a second-year student at The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School, was appointed to serve a two-year term as a TMA Medical Student Section representative on the TMAF board. Ms. Hanes is a delegate to TMA’s Medical Student Section and serves as a volunteer with Dell Medical School’s Be Wise – Immunize and Hard Hats for Little Heads community projects. Ms. Hanes is a member of the Travis County Medical Society.

Christian Beltran, a fourth-year student at Texas A&M University (TAMU) College of Medicine, was appointed to serve a two-year term as a TMA Medical Student Section representative on the TMAF board. Mr. Beltran has served as a student volunteer with TAMU medical school’s Hard Hats for Little Heads community project. He also served as a TMA student chapter vice president at the TAMU medical school. Mr. Beltran is a member of the Brazos-Robertson County Medical Society.
