Medicare will forward claims automatically to the Medigap carrier (secondary payer) as long as all the required documentation is reported on the CMS-1500 claim form or the five-digit Medigap carrier number is reported in the appropriate field on electronic claims. A complete and current Medigap carrier listing , including the five-digit carrier identification number, is always available on Medicare's Web site.
