D’Anna Wick, Tyler, TMA Foundation Board member, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018. D’Anna joined the TMAF board in 2012, served a term as executive committee member-at-large and was co-chair of the Grants Committee. In 2014 she and her husband became TMAF Major Donors.
D’Anna was active in TMA Alliance and Smith County Medical Society Alliance. In Smith County she served in every position before serving as President in 1995. She was instrumental in organizing the first Book Fair in 1968 that became the major fundraiser for the Alliance. In 2002 she was honored by the Smith County Medical Society Alliance with the Heart of Gold Award for her support of the medical profession. She served as TMA Alliance President 2009-2010.
D’Anna was President of the Junior League of Tyler in 1979-80 and served on the regional level of the Association of Junior Leagues. She was honored by the Junior League of Tyler in 2003 with the Gertrude Award/the sustainer award of the year for her service to the community. D'Anna organized the Hospice of East Texas where she served as the first CEO and later became chairman of the Board.
D'Anna also was active in many other local organizations. She taught Sunday School at Christ Church Episcopal, served on the altar guild, was president of All Saints Guild and organized Advent Luncheons. She served on the East Texas Symphony Orchestra Board, Women's Symphony League Board, the American Cancer Society, the Mental Health Association, Tyler Museum of Art, the Alzheimer's Alliance of East Texas, Quid Nunc literary club and Cork Club, and Rose Festival committees. She was active in WIM, an investment club, for 20 years. She also served as a volunteer nurse at Bethesda Clinic.
While volunteering in the community she attended graduate school at Texas Woman's University and earned her Master's Degree from the University of Texas at Tyler prior to teaching nursing at Texas Eastern School of Nursing.
D'Anna always said that she met so many wonderful people whom she would never have known had it not been for her many years of volunteering.
The foundation extends its sympathy and deep gratitude to her husband Paul and to their family.
