Helping your community to be healthier just got easier.
Apply now for a grant from the TMA Foundation (TMAF) that can help pay for initiatives such as a drive-through immunization clinic or community health fair. TMAF accepts applications from county medical societies and alliance and medical student chapters for community health improvement programs.
Last year’s recipients included a “drive-thru” flu shot clinic hosted by the Paris-Lamar County Health District, the Lamar-Delta County Medical Society, and other community groups. Clinic organizers gave shots to 300 people, organizers said, many of whom had no insurance and would not have been able to receive a vaccine.
Elsewhere, Baylor College of Medicine’s TMA student chapter organized a health fair held in the Sunnyside community in southeast Houston, a socioeconomically and medically under-served urban neighborhood. The clinic included health screenings and limited access to primary and specialty care and other social services.
To apply for a 2019 grant, letters of intent must be submitted by July 15, and applications completed by July 31. Applicants will be notified of decisions the week of Sept. 16.
TMA Foundation accepts applications on its online portal.
