As you probably already know, beginning March 1, you’ll be required to check the Texas Prescription Monitoring Program, known as PMP Aware, any time you prescribe opioids, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, or carisoprodol.
To help you document those checks, PMP Aware allows you to download PDFs that you can add to a patient’s medical record.
How, you ask? You can find instructions on downloading PDFs on Page 17 of the PMP Aware support manual, which, as you might expect, has plenty of other information about using the system.
If you have more questions about this or anything related to the PMP, check out the new PMP section on the Texas Medical Association website, or contact the TMA Knowledge Center at (800) 880-7955 or via email.
And if you missed it earlier this week, take a look at the blog post from TMA President David C. Fleeger, MD, on just how much worse the PMP mandate would have been without years of intervention from TMA.
