Members and voting representatives from all 13 Texas Medical Association Medical Student Section chapters elected the section’s 2020-2021 executive council during a meeting held July 26.
The Medical Student Section – which is devoted to the unique issues and concerns of all medical students in Texas – was created to gain a student perspective among members, and to provide future physicians with a voice in the development of TMA policy.
Sarah Miller, a fourth-year medical student at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine, (pictured) was elected section chair.
Other students elected to the executive council for the next year are:
- Swetha Maddipudi, vice chair, UT Health San Antonio Long School of Medicine;
- Ryan Wealther, reporter, UT Health San Antonio Long School of Medicine;
- Alyssa Greenwood Francis, TMA delegation co-chair, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Paul L. Foster School of Medicine;
- Aman Narayan, TMA delegation co-chair, UT Southwestern Medical School;
- Amier Haidar, AMA delegation co-chair, McGovern Medical School at UTHealth;
- Kate Holder, AMA delegation co-chair, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine;
