If you’re thinking of becoming a leader in the Texas Medical Association Women Physicians Section, circle Monday, Aug. 31, on your calendar.
TMA established the Women Physicians Section in 2019 to strengthen female physicians’ engagement and representation in organized medicine and to ensure that women are well-represented within TMA.
If you’re interested in running for a seat on the section’s executive council, submit a nomination during a virtual meeting scheduled for 5 pm (CT), Monday Aug. 31. If you can’t attend the meeting, submit a letter of intent and two-page curriculum vitae via email by 11:59 pm (CT) Aug. 31.
Elections will be conducted online Sept. 4 through 10. Instructions will be emailed in advance.
See the current list of candidates and more information on position terms and responsibilities.
Results will be announced during the section’s virtual event scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12.
The virtual meeting will feature Los Angeles obstetrician/gynecologist Jane van Dis, MD, who will discuss the effects of gender and sexual discrimination on everything from physician productivity and burnout rates to work-life balance, physical and mental health, and ultimately, patient safety.
The section helps develop official TMA policy, programming, and services through direct access and representation within the House of Delegates.
Female physician members are automatically included in the section and are encouraged to participate in its activities and meetings.
If you have questions about council service or to indicate your interest, contact the section via email.
