Campaign season is winding down. The mudslinging is almost over. Television commercials will end. Mailers will stop. And new candidates will be elected to the Texas Legislature.
Election Day – Nov. 3 – is less than one week away. Early voting ends tomorrow – Friday, Oct. 30.
Statewide, nearly half of Texas’ record number of registered voters have taken advantage of early voting to cast ballots. Ensure the House of Medicine’s voice is heard by voting.
To prepare for your trip to the polls, visit the Texas secretary of state’s website where you can:
Double-check to see if you are registered to vote. If you are not registered, it is too late to do so for this election. But you can still register to vote for the next primary election in March 2022.
Find a polling location. You can vote at any polling location in your home county throughout the early voting period. Many counties list their polling locations online. Also, look for the “VOTE HERE” signs in your neighborhood.
“Politics can absolutely impact our profession. We must elect candidates who will turn to physicians for direction on votes impacting patient care and the business of medicine,” said Brad Patt, MD, chair of TEXPAC, TMA’s bipartisan political arm. “Please make the time to go vote for candidates who pledge to help us continue to improve the health of all Texans. Encourage your friends, colleagues, and family to do the same.”
Stop by when you’re out running errands or on your way home from work. Voting usually only takes a few minutes, but its impacts will be felt for years.
For those eligible to vote by mail, ballots must be received by Nov. 3.
