This year’s virtual version of the Texas Primary Care Consortium (TPCC) Summit – a learning lab, collaborative gathering, and catalyst for primary care transformation in Texas – kicks off this Thursday, Oct. 14, and continues on Oct. 15.
Participants from diverse backgrounds across the public health and health care spectrum will gather virtually to gain a more comprehensive understanding of today’s health care challenges, best practices, lessons learned, and available resources. Speakers during the two-day event will include:
- John T. Carlo, MD, CEO of Prism Health North Texas, chair of the Texas Medical Association’s Council on Legislation
- Bechara Choucair, MD, vaccinations coordinator for the White House COVID-19 Response Team
- Michael Darrouzet, TMA executive vice president and CEO
- Ann Greiner, president and CEO of the Primary Care Collaborative
- Tony B. Iton, MD, senior vice president of The California Endowment
- David L. Lakey, MD, vice chancellor for health affairs and chief medical officer at The University of Texas System
- Emily Zalkovsky, deputy state Medicaid director at the Texas Health & Human Services Commission

The consortium, which includes TMA, is a collaborative effort to address the systemic issues that hinder primary care, including health care inequities, lack of access, and high costs.
