TMAF Makes New Year Resolutions for Great Health!

TMA Foundation is committed to great health in the new year in the form of grants approved by the board of trustees. More than $487,000 in grant funding will make the following Texas Medical Association programs possible in 2022: Hard Hats for Little Heads, Vaccines Defend What Matters, Walk With a Doc Texas, Minority Scholarships and Ernest and Sarah Butler Awards for Excellence in Science Teaching. TMA Alliance’s Texas BookShare program also was approved for funding in 2022.

TMA and TMA Alliance members can participate in Hard Hats for Little Heads by hosting free bike helmet events. Learn how you can secure free helmets and other resources for your outreach events. Hard Hats for Little Heads is made possible thanks to many generous donors including a $10,500 matching gift from an anonymous donor couple. For the 10th consecutive year, additional donors have more than met this match raising a grand total of $29,625 for next year’s Hard Hats for Little Heads (all are recognized in a thank-you ad appearing in the November issue of Texas Medicine).

Or if you are a TMA physician member who enjoys regular walking, you can lead a monthly walk with patients and others in your community through Walk With a Doc Texas. Learn how to join this national grassroots movement devoted to encouraging healthy physical activity, reversing the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle, and improving the health and well-being of our fellow Texans. There’s no cost to lead, and you receive promotion and marketing support from Walk With a Doc headquarters!

A list of 2022 program donors will be published in January on the www.tmaf.org. Learn more.
