As announced last week, the Texas Medical Association’s 2022 Winter Conference meetings will be held virtually to ensure the safety of our physicians and staff. The all-sections program featuring speaker Keith Lewis, “Creating Balanced Communication With Patients and Staff,” will be held on Saturday, Jan. 29, from 3 to 4:30 pm CT. Attendees will receive CME for their time and participation.

MEDICAL STUDENT SECTION
Winter Conference meeting: Saturday, Jan. 29, at noon
Apply for an Executive Council position: TMA’s Medical Student Section has two positions available on its Executive Council: alternate delegate on the Texas delegation to the American Medical Association and student representative to the TMA Board of Trustees. Terms are one year beginning at the conclusion of TexMed. Apply by Jan. 20 by emailing Karen Kollar with a letter of intent, two-page curriculum vitae, and headshot.
RESIDENT AND FELLOW SECTION
Winter Conference meeting: Friday, Jan. 28, at 7:30 pm
Apply for a leadership position: TMA’s Resident and Fellow Section has these positions available on its Executive Council: chair-elect, secretary, delegate (up to eight total), alternate delegate (up to eight total), alternate delegate on the Texas delegation to the AMA, and resident representative to the TMA Board of Trustees. Terms are for one year beginning at the conclusion of TexMed 2022. Apply by Jan. 20 by emailing Karen Kollar with a letter of intent, two-page curriculum vitae, and headshot.
Award nominations deadline: The J.T. “Lamar” McNew Award is given annually to a TMA member physician who has provided outstanding service to the Resident and Fellow Section. Submit a nomination by Feb. 20.
YOUNG PHYSICIAN SECTION
Winter Conference meeting: Friday, Jan. 28, at 7:30 pm
Apply for a leadership position: Four delegate and four alternate delegate positions to the AMA Young Physician Section are available. Submit your information to Melanie Fossett by Jan. 21 for consideration.
Award nomination deadlines
TMA board, council, and committee recommendations: TMA’s Office of the President is soliciting recommendations for various positions on TMA’s councils and committees. Young physicians are encouraged to nominate themselves or a colleague who may have expertise in these areas and are willing to serve. Fill out this form to submit a recommendation by Feb. 1.
