The Texas
Medical Association Insurance Trust (TMAIT) has named insurance brokerage
executive Guy Patterson, CEBS, of Pennsylvania as its new executive director.
Mr. Patterson will
assume the role on June 6, filling a vacancy created when James Prescott
retired from leading TMAIT in December 2021, after eight years in that role.
Mr. Prescott served TMAIT for 30 years.
“I look forward to
bringing my experience of working with professional associations to the TMAIT
and to help build upon their excellent reputation of serving the life and
health insurance needs of physicians in Texas,” Mr. Patterson said.
The TMAIT Board
of Trustees selected Mr. Patterson from a nationwide pool of candidates.
“Mr. Patterson
has a long and impressive history working in the association insurance industry,”
said Wendy Parnell, MD, chair of the TMAIT board. “With his enthusiasm,
expertise, and leadership, I am sure TMAIT will continue to be an award-winning
organization. We are so happy to welcome him to the TMAIT family.”
TMAIT is an insurance provider created by TMA in 1955 for its
members. The organization offers health, life, disability, auto, home, and
medical practice insurance products to TMA members.
“The Texas Medical Association is excited to welcome Guy
Patterson as the new executive director of the TMA Insurance Trust,” said Michael Darrouzet, TMA executive vice
president and chief executive officer.
“Guy brings a tremendous amount of experience and expertise
to this critical position that will help TMAIT remain a leader in serving the
insurance needs of Texas physicians. He also recognizes the importance of the
relationship between TMA and TMAIT that has existed for many decades,” he said.
“We will do all we can to welcome him to Texas.”
With professional expertise spanning more than 35 years, Mr.
Patterson’s background includes leadership roles in insurance brokerage firms,
insurance companies, and professional associations. He most recently served as vice
president and managing director of account management for AGIA, an insurance
broker/administrator. Previously he was vice president of USI Affinity, an
insurance broker/consultant. He also oversaw benefits programs for the Pennsylvania
Builders Association, and he previously worked for insurance companies. Mr.
Patterson holds a certified employee benefit specialist (CEBS) professional
designation earned by professionals who administer employee benefit packages.
