Why do you think your section is an important part of TMA?
I feel that sections provide an easy opportunity for members who have not been previously active in the organization to find a way to get involved. It is also a chance to connect with physicians who may be dealing with the issues you are dealing with.
What benefits have you derived from your membership in the section?
It has been a great opportunity to connect with other female physicians and address issues that are important to us.
Current and previous leadership roles withing TMA and affiliated organizations.
Current Positions: TMA-WPS Immediate past chair and AMA alternate delegate
Previous Positions:
TMA - TMA-WPS chair; Council on Member Experience chair; Committee on Membership chair; Committee on Women's Reproductive, and Perinatal Health chair; and TMA delegate
Texas Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (TAOG) - President Elect
American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) District XI - Medical student advisor
Please share what you gained out of the experience serving in a leadership role at TMA.
Being involved as well as a leader in the TMA has allowed me to connect with physicians from different specialties and different part of the states. Too often in today's world of medicine we live in silos. I love being able to break out of those silos through the work we do at the TMA.
What do you like most about being a doctor?
I love being able to work with little ladies as they go through the difficult transition of puberty.
Do you have a favorite quote or personal motto?
Everything will be ok in the end. If its not ok, its not the end.
