What motivated you to become a TMA member? What are some benefits you particularly enjoy?
From my first TMA meeting as a medical student, I found that TMA could help me make a wider impact on the medical field in service, legislation and leadership. I also loved the opportunity to network with my peers and find mentors through conferences and advocacy.
Why did you become a physician?
About halfway through my degree in biomedical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, I realized I liked building and developing technology for medical applications, but I loved applying it and teaching patients about it. So I decided to pivot to medicine while retaining a solid foundation in medical devices, drug development, and problem-solving.
What do you like most about being a physician?
Building relationships with my patients and colleagues in medicine and solving problems together as a team. I also love puzzles and unraveling a mystery, something I get to do every day in clinic and in the hospital.
What is the best professional advice you've ever received?
If you don't have a seat at the table, there's no way for your voice to be heard.
Any hobbies or interests outside of medicine?
I love board games, escape rooms, running, hiking, trying new foods, and crocheting.
What's a cool accomplishment that you're proud of?
I am proud and humbled to have received the Young Physician of the Year Award from the Travis County Medical Society this year as well as co-founding the Texas Family Medicine Research Journal with Larry Kravitz, MD. We published our inaugural issue in late August 2025 and look forward to representing the research and scholarship of family physicians and trainees of Texas.
