Following a revalidation extension for certain physicians, the Texas Medicaid & Health Partnership’s (TMHP’s) Provider Enrollment and Management System (PEMS) will share details on the process and related changes via a series of informational webinars starting this Friday.

Following Texas Medical Association advocacy, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) issued a 180-day revalidation extension for physicians with deadlines between Dec. 13, 2024, and May 31, 2025.

Physicians can register online for one of the five webinars:

  • Friday, Feb. 7, 1-2 pm
  • Thursday, Feb. 13, 10-11 am
  • Wednesday, March 5, 10-11 am
  • Thursday, April 3, 2-3 pm
  • Thursday, May 1, 10-11 am

Each webinar will include a question-and-answer session to address physicians’ individual queries about the revalidation process.

The webinar will also summarize enrollment period adjustments made for physicians who were disenrolled for failing to revalidate between Nov. 1, 2023, and Dec. 12, 2024, and who have successfully reenrolled.

“For providers that have met both criteria, the provider’s enrollment period will be backdated up to 365 days to reduce or eliminate the gap in enrollment,” TMHP said in its online webinar schedule announcement.

TMA was instrumental in securing the extension from HHSC. In a letter to HHSC Executive Commissioner Cecile Young last fall, TMA and four other statewide health care organizations called out “flaws in [PEMS]” which “have become widespread and severe.”

TMA staff are monitoring the effort to ensure HHSC adequately addresses the PEMS revalidation process.
