Several American Medical Association deadlines are coming up fast this month – with a $10,000 prize on the line as well as research funding pertaining to female physicians.
First up: the deadline for the 2022 AMA Research Challenge, which has issued a call for abstracts that must be submitted by July 12 for consideration. The grand prize is $10,000. Abstracts must cover one of six topics:
- Basic science;
- Clinical and translational research;
- Clinical vignettes;
- Health systems science;
- Medical education innovation; and
- Public health and health policy.
Next: AMA’s Joan F. Giambalvo Fund is seeking innovative research proposals focusing on professional issues that affect women physicians on topics such as leadership training protocols, gender-based physician practice patterns, or practice reentry issues. Applications are due by email by July 15.
Last but not least: AMA’s Women Physicians Section (WPS) is seeking nominees for its Inspiration Award, which acknowledges and honors physicians who have contributed to your success. These individuals may have steered you into the specialty you love, guided you through your professional society, or served as an important role model. Nominate someone by July 31.
