A pandemic, vaccine hesitancy, economic pressures. With a focus on physician wellness, the Texas Medical Association’s 2022 Fall Conference Sept. 16-17 aims to help doctors cope with the confluence of these and other factors that continue to bear down on them and their practices.
Saturday’s General Session features TMA’s CME program, Wellness First – Supporting Physicians’ Health. The panel discussion will help physicians find transformational mechanisms by identifying what motivational factors get them going and “in the zone.”
Celia Neavel, MD, of the Center for Adolescent Health at People’s Clinic in Austin – which serves youth with complex medical and psychosocial conditions – will lead the panel, joined by Austin rheumatologist Brian Sayers, MD, of the Travis County Medical Society Physician Health and Rehabilitation Committee and Physician Wellness Program; Houston pediatric specialist Alex Yudovich, MD; and TMA Medical Student Section Chair Alyssa Greenwood.
A two-part presentation will follow on how to create work-life balance. The keynote speaker, Nora Vasquez, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine specialist, advanced certified physician coach, and the CEO and founder of Renew Your Mind MD. Her mission, she says, is to “heal the healers.” She also leads Thriving Leaders in Medicine Coaching Program, an evidenced-based online weekly coaching experience to help physicians and health care professionals overcome burnout.
