Gathering at TexMed in Fort Worth with a new and improved schedule and opportunities, the Texas Medical Association’s House of Delegates got down to business, and electing the next generation of leaders was a top priority.
This year’s elections at TMA's annual policymaking meeting took place on Saturday, May 20, when Dallas cardiologist Rick W. Snyder II, MD, was installed as TMA’s 158th president; Beaumont anesthesiologist G. Ray Callas, MD, was elected as TMA president-elect.
Physicians also reelected Houston neurologist Kimberly Monday, MD, to the TMA Board of Trustees, and elected several new members:
- Gregory M. Fuller, MD, a family physician in Fort Worth, will serve as secretary/treasurer.
- Tony R. Aventa, MD, an internal medicine specialist in Austin.
- Subhan Tabba, MD, of Dallas, is the board’s new Resident and Fellow Section representative.
- Kate Russell, a student at Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth, will represent the TMA Medical Student Section.
Waco otolaryngologist Bradford W. Holland, MD and Little Elm internist John G. Flores, MD, were reelected to continue in their board roles as speaker and vice speaker, respectively.
As president, Dr. Snyder also appointed new chairs and members to TMA's boards, councils, and committees. Be sure to read the upcoming Section News in Texas Medicine Today for coverage of new chairs and members installed and elected within TMA’s special interest sections.
