TMA Foundation gala’s newly announced co-chairs seek to again break records, with last year’s event raising more than $475,000 for TMA outreach programs.

Expanding their roles within the family of medicine, the 32nd annual gala will be led by San Antonio natives John Shepherd, MD, a pediatric anesthesiologist and TEXPAC Candidate Evaluation Chair, and his wife Jenny, TMA Alliance President; as well as TMA Council on Legislation Chair Zeke Silva MD, and his wife, Erika, who does philanthropy through TMA Foundation and serves as a court-appointed child advocate for the Child Advocates of San Antonio.

This year’s gala, Adventure!, will evoke a mountain lodge resort as attendees enjoy fellowship, a silent auction, and live local music. The gala will take place Friday, May 9, from 6:30 to 10:30 pm during TMA’s annual meeting, TexMed, at the JW Marriott Hill Country Spa and Resort in San Antonio.

“We know the significant impact that TMA Foundation programs and funding make in our local communities,” said Dr. Shepherd, Bexar County Medical Society president-elect. “It's witnessing that impact that drives our motivation to serve as TMA Foundation gala co-chairs.”

Dr. and Mrs. Silva also devote their time and service to medicine and their communities.

“Being co-chairs for the 2025 TMAF gala is a tremendous honor for both of us,” said Dr. Silva, a diagnostic and interventional radiologist with the South Texas Radiology Group, and current president of Bexar County Medical Society. “We believe in TMAF's mission of improving health across Texas, and we're thrilled to host this special event in a place so close to our hearts."

Sponsorships for the gala are available at various recognition levels, ranging from $2,750 for a table of eight to $50,000 for the exclusive presenting sponsorship. Individual tickets are on sale and start at $350.
