QPP: Last day to submit data for the 2017 Quality Payment Program: Merit-Based Incentive Payment System and Advanced Alternative Payment Models
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) developed the Quality Payment Program (QPP) to implement the two payment tracks required by the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA). The two tracks are the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and advanced alternative payment models (APMs). The QPP is an annual reporting program that affects Medicare payment two years later. The first QPP performance year was Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2017. Eligible physicians and clinicians who are required to participate in the 2017 QPP must report data to CMS by April 3rd.
04/03/2018
Participation in the 2017 QPP affects Medicare payment in 2019. Eligible physicians and clinicians who are required to participate in the 2017 QPP must report data to CMS by March 31 to avoid a 4-percent pay cut to their 2019 Medicare physician fee schedule payments.
To see if you’re exempt from having to report data for the 2017 QPP performance year, check the MIPS lookup tool. If you’re not exempt, check the list of 53 Texas counties to see if you qualify for a separate MIPS exemption. If you participated in an advanced APM in 2017, check the APM lookup tool and contact your APM administrator for details. Direct links to the lookup tools and the list of Texas counties can be found on the TMA MACRA Resource Center by clicking on "More" below. If you have questions, contact the CMS QPP Service Center at (866) 288-8292 or by email at QPP@cms.hhs.gov.
