Walk with a Doc Texas

  • What is Walk with a Doc?

Walk with a Doc combines walking and conversation to promote a healthier lifestyle in people of all ages. David Sabgir, MD, a board-certified cardiologist in Columbus, Ohio, started Walk with a Doc in 2005. TMA is now part of this worldwide movement. Walk with a Doc Texas has a proven track record of helping people commit to a healthy lifestyle through monthly, physician- and medical student-led walks throughout Texas.

  • Support Local Walks

    • If you’re not ready to become a walk leader but want to be involved, here are some opportunities:

      1. Find a local walk and prescribe it to your patients. Even better – join them on the walk! Locate a Texas walk.
      2. Bring a group of physicians together to start a local walk. A county medical society, medical practice, or health system can share responsibilities.
      3. Support local physician walks by attending, or offering to volunteer or give a talk on a timely health topic.
  • Taking Steps Together: Walk with a Doc Texas Improves Health and Communities

While the nonprofit Walk with a Doc promotes physical activity and educating participants on medical topics, the group equally prioritizes social connectedness and enjoying nature, making up a great formula for improved health, Dr. Bayazitoglu says. Worldwide, more than 71% of WWAD participants report getting more exercise since joining the program, and 93% feel more inspired to lead a healthier lifestyle, according to Walk with a Doc metrics.
